Synopsis
Nuance Global Traders main focus is Duty Free retailing.
Century’s successful relationship began in 1994 with 12 store organization
trading as Downtown Duty Free (DDF) In 1995 Nuance Global Traders successfully
acquired Downtown Duty Free and subsequent to the purchase, acquired City Duty
Free and, shortly after, the worldwide duty free operations of Allders, making
Nuance one of the two largest duty free chains in the world. In Australia it
is estimated that Nuance has over 70% market share.
Nuance operates some 80 plus stores Australia wide through a number of operating
Divisions and has a turnover in excess of $500 million.
How they do it.
The merchandising side of the business is processed by an earlier version of
Reveal. Point of Sale transactions, captured at each store, are consolidated
at Head Office prior to being processed in the central merchandising system
and then passed on to Century’s General Ledger. Stock purchases, Receivals
and Stocktakes together with all other miscellaneous retail transactions (including
Open to Buy and Planning) are fully integrated with Century’s Cash Book,
Accounts Payable and General Ledger.
Given the 80 plus stores, Nuance also has a substantial investment in assets
which are managed by the Century Fixed Assets module. One of the benefits of
the Fixed Assets module is that it can also carry financial items. These are
used to keep track of enhancement costs and therefore maintain an accurate record
of asset values.
Business Benefits
Nuance Global Trades operate a completely integrated inventory and financial
system across all operating divisions. Reporting, from daily trading to monthly
P & L for each division / store and head office is timely and accurate.
